2016 On-site Technical Training Program on Textile and Conservation of Metal

dcp1Since 2006 the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (NRICH), Korea has been providing three months training opportunity in conservation science to the Department of Culture on an annual basis without any financial obligation. Till now 7 participants from different offices under the Department has undergone the training opportunity at NRICH. Last year Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation in-collaboration with Cultural Heritage Administration donated equipment for our conservation lab at Division for Cultural Properties, National Library& Archives and National Museum worth USD 64,093.00. The NRICH also has On-site Technical Training Program (OTTP) and it is to give trainings to conservators on the technical knowledge for conservation. This is a follow up on the effective use of equipment donated by the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation in-collaboration with Cultural Heritage Administration.

Last year the NRICH conducted the OTTP program and they conducted the training called the “On-site Technical Training in Textile Conservation and Photography documentation” to the Bhutanese conservators at the National Museum, Paro from 2nd July to 9th July 2015.

This year the 2nd OTTP training is going to be conducted at the Department of Culture from 5th-15th July 2016 and they will be concentrating the training on textile and metal conservation. The training will be for the conservators of the Department whereby they will learn about cleaning of deteriorated metal objects and textile.

The program is fully funded by the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (NRICH), Korea.
